Top Gun Driving School Standard Terms and Conditions
Driving Licence and Eyesight: The pupil must hold a valid driving UK licence (provisional or full). Test candidates must also be able to read a number plate at a distance of 20.5 metres (67 feet) with glasses if normally worn.
Comfort and Safety: Pupils are advised to wear suitable flat soled footwear and comfortable clothing. Pupils must also beware of any medication they are taking that may affect their ability to drive safely and consult their G.P. before taking any lessons. If you are considered not fit to drive through taking any medication or alcohol or illegal drugs, the lesson or course will be abandoned and the fee will become forfeited or charged.
Prices: Driving School advertised lesson prices/courses are subject to the price ruling at time of lesson and or at the discretion of your instructor. Current prices are always on the website Current prices over rule any old pages or adverts.
Payment: Top Gun Driving School runs a limited number of payment options. You are required to pay in advance for weekly driver training in car at the start of the lesson. To book a course a £50 deposit or full course fee is required. Where a balance is due this must be paid in car at the start of the course. Lesson
Cancellation: In respect of lessons Pupils/Parents/Guardians must give at least 48 hours verbal notice of lesson cancellation; late lesson cancellation will be either forfeited or become due for payment. The Instructor will give at least 48 hours verbal notice of lesson cancellation/s. Failure by Top Gun Driving School to advise the pupil/parent/guardian will result in a free lesson/s.
Punctuality: Candidates are advised to be punctual for their lesson appointments. Your instructor will wait for a maximum of 15 minutes before the lesson is abandoned and the lesson fee forfeited or become due for payment.
Lateness: In the event of road congestion please allow a waiting time of 15 minutes. Where possible your instructor will telephone in advance. Any lesson time lost will be made up either at the end of the normal lesson time if possible or at a later date.
Postponement: The instructor reserves the right to postpone lessons if the weather or road conditions are unsuitable or dangerous.
Exemptions: No liability is accepted for: a) cancellation of lessons due to illness or mechanical breakdown b) cancellation of your theory and or driving test by the DSA c) practical test eye sight failure d) termination of the practical test by the DSA examiner due to tyre pressure/puncture or electrical failure of light/s, light bulb failure of the school training car prior to or during the practical test e) any consequential cost incurred as a result of postponement or cancellation. (N.B. Prior to the practical driving test as a matter of standard operating procedure tyres, tyre pressures and lights are fully checked on a daily and weekly basis and immediately prior to practical test.)
Course Validation: All purchased courses, block bookings (including open dated gift vouchers) are valid for a six (6) month period commencing date of purchase. The validity of a course/block booking/gift voucher cannot be extended beyond six months from the date of purchase.
Refunds: Deposits are non-refundable. Please note a fully paid up course/block booking/gift voucher are refundable within 7 days of purchase less any lesson taken minus 10% administration charge levied (being a minimum charge of £25 and a maximum charge £75).
Training Vehicle: Use of training car for test purposes is charged at the current single hourly lesson charge for the number of hours required.
Road Safety: The candidate must reach a standard to be considered safe to take the tuition vehicle on test. In the interest of road and public safety the right is reserved to withhold the practice car. The instructor’s decision must be accepted as final.
Accident or Damage: When the training car is provided for use with a practical driving test, the test candidate will be deemed responsible for all losses incurred by Top Gun Driving School. This will include and be limited to the "Insurance Policy Excess", if the student is deemed responsible for causing the accident.
Code of Practice: Emphasis is placed on professional standards and business ethics. Vikki Holt is an Approved Driving Instructor Licensed by the Department for Transport/Driving Standards Agency and conforms to the DSA ADI’s Code Of Practice. Customer Care: Every effort is made to ensure the quality of service provision is to the highest standard. Should; the pupil/parent/guardian at any time have cause or reason for complaint please let Top Gun Driving School know immediately. Failing agreement or settlement of a dispute, reference may be made to DSA's Registrar of Approved Driving Instructors who will consider the matter and advise accordingly. Should the Registrar not be able to settle the dispute he/she may set up a panel, with representatives from the ADI industry, to consider the matter further or advise that the matter should be referred to the courts or other statutory body to be determined.
Driving Test Bookings: Driving test bookings always take priority over other lessons. Therefore, your lesson may be re-scheduled to allow for someone else’s test and vice-versa. As a result changes to lesson bookings will be notified immediately. Independent test appointments must be notified to your instructor as soon as they are known/prior to booking; otherwise it may not be possible to provide the tuition vehicle for the test.
Acceptance: All bookings for driver training are offered on the basis that the pupil/parent/guardian have read and accepted the Terms and Conditions for the provision of service set out herein.
